WHEN AI B-ROLL ACTUALLY HELPS A MUSIC VIDEO
[ THE SHORT ANSWER ]
AI B-roll is useful when a music video already has a direction but needs more world, more scale or scenes that were impractical to capture. It is not useful when it is added as random spectacle. The new clips have to feel native to the edit that already exists.
THE BEST USE CASE IS SPECIFIC
Sometimes the performance is already shot. Sometimes the artists cannot share a location. Sometimes the edit needs an environment, a transition or a narrative image that would require another production day. Those are clear problems that AI B-roll can solve.
The brief should name the missing function. More images is not a production goal.
MATCH THE FILM BEFORE EXPANDING IT
I study the source edit for camera height, lens feeling, light direction, contrast, palette, texture and rhythm. I then build scenes that extend those decisions. The strongest insert is often the one that feels inevitable, not the one that looks most expensive.

PRACTICE: THREE ARTISTS, ONE WORLD
For Coyote for Hire, I created a coherent collection of clips that placed Shaquille O’Neal, B-Real and Coyote for Hire inside the same scenarios without requiring them to meet in person. The work was delivered as B-roll for Practice.
The important result was not simply putting three recognizable people in a frame. It was maintaining scale, atmosphere, character treatment and continuity so the clips could live inside one finished video.
