[ PRACTICAL GUIDE / DELIVERY CHECKLIST ]
What should you check before delivering an AI video to a client?

[ THE SHORT ANSWER ]
The delivery check should inspect the files the client will receive, not just the timeline that produced them. A correct edit can still be exported with an old title, missing audio, a wrong crop or an unexpected color treatment. Use a repeatable review pass before sending the link.
Match the approved version
Confirm the source edit, selected shot versions and final copy against the approval record. Check the opening, closing and any replacement shots explicitly. Use filenames that identify the project, format and version without relying on repeated final labels. If there are several deliverables, list them and check each file against that list rather than assuming the export queue remained correct.
Watch picture and sound separately
Play every finished file from beginning to end. On the picture pass, inspect continuity, crop, titles, artifacts and unexpected black frames. On the sound pass, check that the intended track and ending are present and that no temporary production audio remains. Then watch the film normally to judge the relationship between the two. A technical review is not a substitute for experiencing the final sequence.

Compare the export with the edit
If color or contrast looks different, compare the same moments through a controlled viewing path. Confirm the intended dimensions, frame rate and duration from the export settings and file information. Where delivery requirements specify additional parameters, verify those rather than relying on a familiar preset name. Keep the original reference export available until the comparison is complete.

Make the handoff understandable
Provide a concise file list with the purpose of each version, plus any agreed limitations or remaining decisions. Check that the delivery link opens and that the required files are accessible using the intended access method. Keep a local record of what was delivered and when. Do not replace a file silently after sending it; label revisions clearly so the client and production team can identify the current master without reconstructing the conversation.
